Committed to honoring humanity, Spaces for Souls analyzes our environments through new lenses at the intersections of Place, Liberation, Collective Power, and Individual Action to embed spatial and social justice into spatial planning practice.
Spaces for Souls supports Palestinian Liberation.
In partnership with Black Muslim TV Foundation , Global Black Studies Scholar Greg Thomas, and Black Palestinian organizers, Spaces for Souls is supporting the resilience of Black, Gaza-based Palestinian communities in the midst of physical, spatial, emotional, and cultural terror.
We recognize the collective power in organizing across different spheres of lived and physical experience. In compassionate response to the requests of Black Palestinian community leaders, this fundraising partnership was initiated to support fundamental resources for this community’s basic social needs.
The funds are needed to meet some of these basic needs of survival:
to purchase medical supplies for the many wounded;
to supply and distribute daily meals and nutritional supplements across the community;
to provide clothing and other material for regular people in need;
to help secure temporary shelter for the recently homeless; and
to help some achieve one of the ultimate goals, the re-building of recently destroyed family homes.
In the first corresponding article for this campaign published on San Francisco Bay View, Thomas highlights the historic and present-day realities and resistance of Black Palestinians under the consistent and violent occupation of the Israeli regime.
To analyze various aspects of the spatial violence endured throughout history by Palestinian communities, Spaces for Souls will be releasing a series of articles throughout the coming months.
